MESSAGE FROM MIKE BURT: OGC
DIRECTOR of GOVERNMENT ESTATE TRANSFORMATION
I am writing to invite you to join me at the second Government Asset Management Conference that will be held at the QEII Conference Centre, London SW1 on 2 July 2007. This Office of Government Commerce event is being organised in conjunction with Public Service Partnership.
A lot has happened since the highly successful inaugural conference “Working Assets” on 26 June last year. Primarily, High Performing Property, Government’s strategy for transforming the management and use of its office estate over the next 5 years was launched by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 9 November 2006. In addition Sir David Varney published his report “Service Transformation: a better service for citizens and businesses, a better deal for the taxpayer” in December 2006. Good progress has been made by OGC and by departments, their agencies and sponsored bodies in implementing both initiatives. Most recently, we published the High Performing Property detailed implementation plan at the end of March this year and this records the action that has been taken to establish property asset management champions in departments and other Government organisations, property asset management boards, and estate transformation plans. ;
The conference on 2 July is your opportunity to hear about and debate the progress that is being made and to hear a number of key announcements. But more importantly, perhaps, it will be your opportunity to be involved in the discussions about the challenges that we all face in transforming the Government’s estate and how these can be, and are being, addressed. As before, the conference will comprise plenary key note speeches followed by more detailed workshops addressing a range of implementation and related issues.
I hope you will agree that the July 2007 conference is a must attend event for anyone who is involved in any way with Property, Change Management, Resources and Efficiency.
