AN INVITATION FROM COLIN MAIR

BEST VALUE – EFFICIENCY, QUALITY, ACCOUNTABILITY
AN IMPROVEMENT SERVICE CONFERENCE

Does Best Value still feel new? Where is its role in the context of the new drive for efficiencies, maximising of new shared service solutions and the challenging of delivering local services under tighter financial settlements?

Confused? Wondering what the benefits of Best Value are? Wondering where to take your organisation, your staff and your community next?

Our conference on Best Value might hold some of the answers, it may stimulate debate with like minded people, it may challenge some of the views you hold, it may challenge how you work.

I want the conference to do this and more. I want it to add value for local government.

The venue is the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow, 31 May 2006. We will open with Cllr Pat Watters, President of COSLA, followed by plenary sessions from the Accounts Commission, alongside a session learning from 2 Scottish councils. The Minister for Finance and Public Services, and Chair of the Improvement Service, Tom McCabe MSP, will deliver the keynote address.

We will have 10 seminars running in the afternoon, which will provide stimulating debate, sharing of common experience, and the output will feed into our work programme in the Improvement Service.

I really hope that you can attend our conference, participate, share ideas and experience and leave the day with useful actions and ideas to take back with you.

The conference is being managed on our behalf by Public Service Partnership Ltd and a public sector delegate fee of £95 + VAT has been set with them for this conference.

To book your place, please contact Charis Rosen, 0161-217-2500 or email her on crosen@pspltd.org
