Government Relocation Moving Forward 2006
London 24th January 2006
JANUARY 24, 2006
EXCEL CENTRE, LONDON DOCKLANDS
I would like to invite you personally to join me at the second Government Relocation Conference that will be held at the Excel Centre, Docklands on 24 January 2006. This is the second official event organised by the Office of Government and Commerce, in conjunction with Public Service Partnership, and co-sponsored with the Cabinet Office and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and follows on from the conference held on 18 January this year.
12 months on from that first conference, the event on 24 January 2006 will inform you of the progress that has been made on implementing the Government commitment to relocate 20,000 civil service posts from London and the South East by 2010, and the next steps. It will give you the opportunity to hear from the key decision makers and implementers of the initiative and from some departments who have undertaken relocations. As before, John Oughton, OGC Chief Executive, has agreed to give the keynote speech and this will give you an update and direct insight to the delivery of the wider Government Efficiency Programme, of which the relocation initiative is part. The programme of practical workshops will focus on key relocation issues and aspects that will need to be addressed, including converting the relocation of posts into efficiency/cash gains, workforce issues arising from relocation and practical case studies on successful relocations.
The January 2005 conference attracted nearly 300 delegates. We will be aiming for the same number or more, so it is important to book your place early for this coming January. To do so, please contact Public Service Partnership on 0161-975-6292.
The January 2006 conference is a must attend event for anyone who is involved in any way with the Government Relocation initiative. The agenda and further details of the event will be issued by PSP shortly.
Yours sincerely
M J BURT
Director of Property Coordination and Senior Responsible Owner for Lyons Implementation
