Reorganisation & Shared Services Northern Ireland

Belfast Waterfront Hall, Belfast, 25th April 2007

Placeholder

The Review of Public Administration (RPA) will introduce the most far reaching reform of the system of public administration in Northern Ireland for a generation, leading to the re-configuration of key services, such as health, education and local government.

“Streamlined structures will let us direct resources to where they are needed most, promote flatter, more effective management structures and reduce bureaucracy”. Peter Hain, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland

Transformation of administrative business process via the creation of shared service vehicles is recognised as being essential in achieving these objectives. Within the context of the RPA the introduction of shared service centres for internal customer focused services is a key area for potential efficiency gains.

Shared Services are not only about technology but will also involve significant change management programmes for the workforce, change to business processes, culture change and fresh property management issues etc. The primary focus for most shared services programmes are HR, IT, Finanace and Procurement, with additional significant interest in property and estates asset management.

The Reorganisation and Shared Services Conference will be of great relevance to senior managers and decision-makers across Northern Ireland’s public sector. The subject matter will be of particular interest to:

  • Chief Executives/Directors/Managers
  • Health Sector Managers
  • Education Officials
  • Local Government Councillors
  • Local Government Officials
  • HR Managers
  • Finance Managers
  • IT Managers
  • Strategy Directors
  • Policymakers
