Public Sector Skills 2008

Beyond Competence: Are We There Yet?

Placeholder

Monday 1st December - QEII Conference Centre: London

"The most important thing now is not the equipment and the technology... The most important thing we have is you and it’s your skills and your dedication and your expertise and your professionalism that we rely on......to meet the challenges of tomorrow, in order to continue to ensure high quality public services and value for money for the taxpayer, we must set the pace in the race for skills." - Prime Minister Gordon Brown's spring 2008 speech outlining how civil servants and public servants need to further develop their skills to better tailor public services to the citizen's needs.

Public sector employers are being challenged to improve the skills of their workforce as a key component of the drive to deliver improved services to the citizen.

What progress has been made to meet these challenges and what should the next phase of development be for organisations across central government, local government, the NHS, fire, police, universities and colleges?

Building on the success of the 2007 event, the second Public Sector Skills conference and exhibition will:

  • Showcase the best public and private sector offerings around skills development, training and education;
  • Highlight best practice: and
  • Provide a unique forum for discussion and learning for delegates.
